I am attempting to disassemble the master cylinder. I have gotten as far as
the nylon guide bearing. It won't move. I remember doing this on my Austin
Marina, which has the same master cylinder. I remember drilling holes in it
and screwing in thin screws to pull it out. I destroyed the guide, couldn't
find one from any supplier, only to discover that there was one in the
rebuild kit. I also cracked the master cylinder casting, but only damaged a
bolt hole where it attaches to the fire wall.
This time I have tried replacing the spirolox ring and spring retainer
cradling the retainer and tapping on the casting with a hammer. Haven't
broken it yet, but it also hasn't moved.
Anyone got any stories to tell along this line, helpful or humorous?
TIA
