Hi Mark, I still have all that to do on my 66 MkII so that should be fun, and 
in response to your question about rerouting, I will make a point, be very 
careful when routing to make sure that wherever you route it that it's 
insulated. I would not like to put my wiring inside metal tubing, I think i 
would go for some half inch or one inch plastic tubing. That way if you do 
get a problem you wont be shorting out against metal.  The plastic I mean is 
that durable non igniting stuff, I forgot the name of it for now but I am 
sure you know what I mean. Good luck
