Hello everyone,

I have a couple of questions that I'm sure this group can easily answer.

- Is the drive shaft for an O/D tranny shorter or longer than a non-O/D
tranny on a 78 Spit?
- The non-O/D drive shaft I took out of my Spit has a smaller diameter
cylinder than the O/D drive shaft I purchased. The original is about 2
", while the other is about 2 3/4" or 2 7/8". Will this be a problem?

- I have a question about the two wires for the reverse switch on the
tranny. Should the wires be cross connected or connected to their
corresponding color code. In other words, there is one wire that is
green with a brown stripe and the other is just green. The reverse
switch green / brown stripe wire is connected to the green car wire
while the reverse switch green wire is connected to the green / brown
stripe wire. The backup lights work fine, no problem.

My concern is now that I'm replacing my original tranny with a rebuilt
O/D tranny should I connect the new reverse switch just like the
original was connected or match the color coded wires correctly?

What's the correct way to match these reverse switch wires?

Thx in advance for all responses.
