Another question - for Test Setup 1 (the rejected set-up) you gave lengths
and open and closed loads for the struts. Do you have this info for the
struts in the set-up you used eventually? This could make it easier for
people to track down their own struts to do the job.
At the least, an eye-to-eye distance for the extended strut would be really
helpful.
Richard & Daffy (who wants to do this to complement the boot gas strut, but
has probably 20 greater priorities right now!)
