As part of restoration of my 79 Spit, I was cleaning up the steering
rack prior to painting and refit with new bushings. I found a small
plug that appears to be made of nylon in the rack housing. It was
covered with tape and came out during the scrub.
Question: What purpose does it serve and is there any "right way" to
put it back into the opening in the rack housing?
