I can't advise this for fear of upsetting the "Triumph God", but here goes
any way....
The PO for my vehicle drilled a small hole in the lip of the firewall shelf,
near the edge.  A half-inch bolt drops down from the top through the coil
bracket and the shelf.  1/2" nut goes on the bottom.  Easy to get to from
the engine compartment and no additional firewall holes.  Looks something
like this from the side..

Well, I just spent 3 hours with a dremel rotary tool and a cutting wheel to
get ONE friggin rounded out screw.
Anyone know what would be the perfect bolt(note bolt, not screw) size that
would mount the coil onto the car's body? I wonder if I should pay the local
machine shop to braze on a nut to the clamp to make removal easier.
But then again, I could just have a wrench underneath in the footwells while
I unscrew from above.
