I also tried to find some P44s this spring.  Ichecked over 30 tire shops in 
Calgary and around, but found only 1.  So I settled on some
near new P77s (I think).  They have a very strange aggressive tread, and quite 
stiff sidewalls. I gave up trying to find P44's, but good
luck in a bigger city.
