Not odd at all.  Huxley (My Red Mk1) has a 1500 with twin HS2's from a
Mk3 1296 engine and it performs well.
If you want to go really exotic, I have a manifold for twin DCOE Webers
that I'll sell you for $50.00.  That includes interconnecting linkage as
well.
