The best way to protect this area is to stop using dot 3 or 4 fluid and
switch to dot 5 silicone fluid. There is not a paint on the market that dot
3 or 4 can withstand. Dot 5 on the other hand does not damage paint. You
will have to completely flush all old fluid out before changing the two are
100% incompatable.

Subject: Firewall protection
I know this question has been asked and answered. But I have to
rebuild the clutch master cylinder and I figure while it is all apart I
should claen up the peeling/rusted paint from the firewall.
I know to remove all the pieces and then wire brush clean, maybe
even grind the rust away ;-(. What do I want to do to protect, repaint
this area. I am in Canada and looking for supplies I can get here.
Thanks
