While your Stromberg is probably badly in need of rebuilding, I experienced
similar problems when I first bought my '73 Stromberg equipped Spitfire.
The car seemed to run ok when cold but was hard starting (and non-running)
when fully warmed. Mileage was horrible.
It turned out that the igition timing was off by several degrees. The carb
was also in need of adjustment. Timing would affect your mileage as well.
