I have those same three on my 79' 1500.  I grounded them, but cannot 
confirm your suspicions.  The do not appear on my Wiring Diagrams.  


Our 72 Spitfire Mk 4 has three black wires that break out of the wiring
harness an inch or two from the wires that go to the solenoid.  They all
end in one wire lug that is currently connected to nothing.  I suspect 
that
these wires should be grounded, but would like some confirmation.  Any 
one
see these wires on their harness?
