Sounds like a bad thermocouple to me. Take it out & find someone who can tes=
t it. If they say it=E2=80=99s bad, replace it, if they say it=E2=80=99s goo=
d, it is probably good. I had one decades ago that tested good but wouldn=E2=
=80=99t work with the pilot flame. The end @ the pilot should not be corrode=
d or loose. If you have a voltmeter you can do a rough (no load test) to see=
if it=E2=80=99s bad. Should be plenty of videos on line.=20
