Consumer Reports doesn't agree with you. There conclusions were:
-inconsistent water temperature was a common complaint
-units are expensive
-they require more service
-up to 22 years to break even
And that's not even considering that many people (including me) use
electricity to make hot water. Electric tankless hot water heaters
are especially feeble. I have a day/night electric meter. I pay a
much lower rate at night. I have a timer on my water heater, and I
only heat water at night. This works fine most of the time. If I
have house guests or for some reason need a lot of hot water, I just
flip the switch to override the timer.
