Not as easy as it seems. It wasn't until recently shredding tires was
economically feasible, or for that matter doable at all. Most tires contain
steel cables, not an easy thing to shred.
For the last couple of decades there have been various devices 'invented' to
shred tires, in the last five years tire shredders have evolved. This is
why you're now seeing the materials that have been mentioned in the other
posts on this subject. Looked at an artificial athletic field lately; or
perhaps your neighbors lawn?
