I use a mixture of both, drawers and hanging.  For hanging I recommend that 
you use plywood on the walls and skip pegboard.  Most tools, sockets, and 
wrench's have holder that can be screwed into a plywood wall. That way you 
can put what you want where you want.  If you must have a pegboard type tool 
holder do what I did.  I cut off the things that stick through the pegboard 
and welded a small piece of metal to the back which I drilled a couple of 
holes.  Then I screwed that to the wall.  It works great a wood covered wall!

BTW, a nice toolbox is good also.
