We have a little oil-filled space heater that does a great job of
heating our back room on winter evenings. Unfortunately, the
thermostatic switch failed sometime last season - failed on, which
was sort of a surprise.
I finally got around to opening it up yesterday. It's a pretty simple
bimetallic switch with a threaded post that preloads one of the
conductors. It *seems* that the potmetal frame has warped!
I contacted the manufacturer, and they said they have no spare parts
for anything more than a year old - this is seven or eight years old.
Grumble. Anyone have an idea where I can get a suitable switch? The
heater itself works fine. At worst, I'll just wire it up solid
and run it on the 700W mode on a timer.
Thanks,
chris
