It's all time and money. One line (2 pair) from the alarm box to the phone
line, one cut to the phone line, 4 compression splices and it's done.
Easier yet are the newer alarms that have a cell circuit in them. No
outside connections, and they have a very low rate for shared lines that
only make calls a few times a year (if that).
Oh yeah, they get to charge you more for it too!
