I'm in the same boat. Sure would like to hear what you find out about the
plastic. I have looked into Aluminum as is used on most of the car haulers,
but it's expensive.
Only thing I've wondered about is rigidity. The skin adds a lot of
rigidity to the walls.
Fiberglass?
