4 post lift as an elevator

Has anyone tried to use a four post lift as an elevator to get a car into 
the basement?  I envision a garage with a basement under it and  a section 
of the garage floor supported by a four post lift.  To get a car into the 
basement, drive on to the lift part of the garage floor and lower down to 
the basement and drive off the lift.
