I bought one of the 20 ton presses from
Harbor Freight. It works fine. You will
need other accessories to help with pressing
out stuff. (Like strong enough pieces of iron
to hold the bearing separator.) Only other
annoyance is that the 20 ton press is too
short for me. (I'm 5'8") I look over the top
bar when it is setup. The unit is also heavy.
I get a workout every time I set it up. The
bottle jack itself is about 20 pounds or more
and it makes an ear ringing bang when you slip
and drop it. :)
The 40 ton that a friend has is much nicer
unit and it has the slow and fast levers for
movement of the jack. The slow movement lever
doesn't cause the bearings to let go with
another ear ringing bang like the 20 ton unit
does. The table is also wider to fit things
like front wheel drive hubs. You'll probably
need a forklift to move the unit though. Just
moving the table to a different height makes
one invent new swear words. :)

Brian
