I think I will use a come-along to straighten each wall, then brace with
2x4s screwed into each stud. When I go to insulate, I can pull off one 2x4,
put in the fiberglass batt, cover with vapor-barrier plastic, and screw on a
panel of OSB (Oriented-strand board, or "waffleboard". Working across the
wall four feet at a time, I can do the whole wall. I used OSP on my last
(un-insulated) garage for sheathing, and it didn't lean in 10 years. If
later on I want to do the outside sheathing and siding again, I can pull off
the existing stuff without worrying about the wall lozenging on me, since
the interior OSB will hold it.
I intend to paint the interior OSB bright white. I used latex on my last
garage and it looked OK. I wonder if white Killz would be better, to
inhibit mold and bugs.
