quite. the price is at least 50% higher, but i can go out right this
minute and buy a 5lb or a 10lb halon bottle without any trouble -- if
i'm willing to pay the price.

there isn't really a good drop in replacement for Halon. FM100 is
banned in the SCCA because it is somewhat toxic. AFFF is a foaming
agent rather than a gas, and requires different nozzles and different
nozzle placement to work properly. there's a 3M system that i've not
seen in any cars yet (i'm an SCCA tech inspector and look at a _lot_
of fire system installations during the course of a year.)
