Ive been through the shoppe manual and the factory assembly manual trying
to find details on a petcock valve at the bottom of my gas tank. From what I
can see all Chevy trucks in the 50s had their fuel lines coming in from
the TOP of the gas tank. I was wondering if mine is standard or not?

Its a 1953 > ton. Gas tank behind the seat/bench. I was getting new wheels
and tires ( steel belted !! ) put on Monday when one of the mechanics came
in to let me know the truck was leaking gas. Sure enough, 5-6 drops a
second. It was coming from what looks like a drain valve under the tank.
Closing the valve stopped the leak, however that also stopped the fuel
delivery. Ended up flat bedding the thing home.

I know the truck wasnt abused driving onto the rack as I did the driving.
Im assuming its just bad luck. Tried again today: as soon as you start to
open that valve gas starts dripping out. Sort of hoping this was a standard
$5 part but its looking worse and worse :[

Any thoughts on how I can repair or replace the valve?

Thanks

Paul
