Here is the web site for the folks you need to contact. They will buy it
from you for a very low price of a few dollars, re-register it in their
state and then transfer/sell it back to you with the new title.  It will
then be a 1948 Chevy. Last time I checked the process was about $250. Give
them a call.  They have been around a long time and I've met others that are
satisfied with their service. Hope this helps.
