Changing would require replacing at least the generator, starter, voltage 
regulator, heater fan motor, radio if you have one, and ammeter.  Lights don't 
care.  Just use it as is until you have a reason to change it to 12 volts, then 
make the change to negative ground at the same time.

I think my 55 is positive ground.  What is required to change to negative 
ground, or is it easier to just use it
