I also have access to a 305 from a mid 80s Firebird/Camaro with a 700R4. If 
the compression checks out, it might find a home in my 54 3100.  How can I 
determine if it is one of the higher horsepower motors?  This motor has under 
60,000 miles and would certainly help the initial budget.  Thanks for your 
help,
