Its not my web site and I haven't made the change yet as I'm waiting for
the right one to come along. I have found too many bent A frames, as they
tend to be from work trucks that have hit rocks while in the woods. Once I
find an assembly that is complete and in good condition I will take it off
and clean it up and start replacing all the bushings and ball joint/tie
rods etc. Only then will I make the swap. I don't have the access to the
front of the old truck to measure the track width but if time allows I
will do it. My brother has a mid 70's truck with the front end I want but
he drives it and will not let me have it. I could measure that one also but
he told me if I get within 50 feet of it he will shoot me! ;-( !

To the group,

I just read Roger Gleason's reply about using the
74-87 1/2 ton front crossmember and suspension in AD
trucks. I've been interested in this possibilty for
about two years now. One question I have is this: Is
the track width the same as the original straight axle
setup? It looks from the photos on Rogers web site to
be somewhat wider. I asked this question about a year
ago and got no definitive answer.

Roger would you mind measuring your track width from
the outside of the front tires and would someone on
the list with the standard straight axle do the same
and publish these to the rest of us on the list. This
may be the solution many of us are looking for. A
sturdy, time proven IFS that gives us the advantages
of IFS and allows us to keep our trucks at close to
stock ride height.

I've got to tell you all this possibility really
excites me. And thanks to Roger for posting this info
on his web site for all of us to see.

Byron
