I let a friend borrow my 49 Chebby 3600 with a later-model 235 to use for a few
weeks and the alternator/generator seems to have given up the ghost. My
question is this: is this thing equipped with an alternator or a generator, and
are they easy to find? It's 12 volt, and I have had zero time to go over there
and look at the truck. What is the difference between an alternator and a
generator? Is there one? Will I be able to go to Napa and get a new one or will
I have to order it from a place like Chevy Duty? Thanks for your help.
