They are dirrerent, I found this out the same way you are, but about 2 years
ago.  I ended up ordering the striker plates from a vendor years ago and
they are a little different in design.  You either need to use the latches
and striker plates for the 1950 doors or the 1954 doors.  The doors will
work as long as you keep the years the same.
