[oletrucks] 6 to 12volt and back

The previous owner converted my 51 GMC to 12 volt and installed a newer engine 
and transmission. I am going to put a GMC 228 with original starter in it and 
am wondering if I have to go back to negative ground to make the starter 
function properly.I don't know if they run backwards with reverse polarity.
