Taking a look at my '55 2nd series, it appears that there used to be an
emblem on the fender under the 3100 arrow.  All that remains is a lower
case 't' and appears to have been the wod 'Chevrolet'
This truck has a 235, so it would not be the V8 emblem although it is in
the same location.
Can anyone confirm my belief?
