I can't comment on the Canadian models that some people have mentioned, but,
based on official Chevy documentation, I have to go along with Bob Adler on
this, the side mount spare tire carrier was not introduced as a factory RPO
(regular production option) until 1953 and at that time, it was factory
mounted on the left side.
