This hole is used for the heater control valve used in conjunction with the
"Factory Fresh Air" heater, this valve controlled how much flow of water
will be circulated through the heater, your heater hose coming from the
block attached to this valve then a hose from the valves second connection
would attach to the heater. Then the return line from the heater would
attach to the heater and the engine, (your return circulating line. This
hole is not used for the recirculating heater, only the "factory fresh air
heater.

I am trying to plug as many holes as possible in the firewall of my '53
3100. I have one that is elongated, about 3 inches long and 1 inch wide on
the passenger side. It is between the heater motor and the center recess of
the firewall. It has 2 screw holes, one above and one below. What was
(is) this for?
