Sounds like a 235 or you could be lucky and have a 261. You could replace the
rod bearings with the engine in place. If you catch it right away and the crank
isn't scored yet you might buy yourself more time by replacing the rod bearings
but you are probably looking at a real rebuild sooner or later, probably
sooner.  You can check with plastigage while it's apart. While it might not be
impossible I don't think it's practical to try to replace mains with the engine
in place.
   Shop manual is great place to start for info though it won't cover the 235,
you would need a later manual for that. Everyone sells these.  Public library
may have a book you could copy 235 info out of, car engines are the same.  Assy
manual helpful if you're doing a frame off.
    After trying a few vendors my preference is Heavy Chevy. Many have their own
favorites.
