Several questions have now reared their ugly head, and I do not wish to be
critical nor do I wish to be taken as such. No abuse intended so please bear
with me. The wrong system setup could prove to be a problem.
1: What proportioning valve are you going to use?
2: Where is the master cylinder located?
3: What are the front/rear proportioning valve ratios going to be?
4: Are you going to use and adjustable proportioning valve?
5: Do you have a safe place to test the brakes when adusting the valve?
6: Are you going to use a split piston modern master cylinder?
Disc brakes take a higher pressure to operate than do drums and you would need
to have an adjustable braking proportion valve installed. Next you would need
to make sure that the brake master cylinder is mounted higher than the rear
axle. Most proportioning valves have a residual pressure valve that holds just
several pounds of pressure on the caliper pistons just to make sure they do not
back off away from the disc. Disc brakes have a tendency not to lock up as bad
as drums and also you need to run a better fluid than most stock drum units
used due to the heat generated by the disc brakes. I would suggest consulting
with someone who knows A LOT about brake systems before jumping in on this. The
time spent with this person might save a lot of experiment time and money.
