While we're on the subject of steering boxes, on mine the steering wheel
turns 2 1/2 turns to the right and about 1 1/2 to the left(from straight
forward). I've tried turning the pitman arm, but it will only turn a
full quarter turn on the shaft due to four larger splines. 

Any thoughts or ideas? An adjustment maybe?
