We finally have the details on the 8-28-04, Saturday Tour:

We will be leaving independantly (how else??) from the Woodley Park car
park between 8:30AM and 9:30AM - We will be primarily following the old
Mulholland Highway over to the beach - instructions provided at the start -
this is an amazingly picturesque drive on the best of sports car roads. The
drive is more downhill than up, so lower powered cars will have no problems
keeping up with the Healeys and Jags (or at least won't be in the way).

Old Joke: I just bought a classic Rolls Canardly.
It rolls down hills and canardly make it up the next!
(this is how I usually feel in my 948cc Morris Minor on tour!)

The tour will end at Neptune's Net, a great little fish & sandwich place on
the coast at the LA/Ventura County line. There is a substancial car park as
well as street parking and a free county lot across the Coast Highway. See
you there!

We are Back!!! But bring a picnic lunch - SEE BELOW!

THE GREATER LOS ANGELES BRITISH CAR PICNIC
At Woodley Park in Van Nuys, California
  Saturday & Sunday, August 28th & 29th, 2004

After a three year absence, WE ARE BACK!!! Join us for our return to
Woodley Park, one of the oldest British automotive lawn events in
California. 300 thoroughly lovable British cars are once again expected to
grace the field at Woodley Park.

Added features will include a free British car tour on Saturday and a great
display of automotive oddities provided by the Arcane Auto Society and
other unique car clubs with orphans and bubble cars from all over the
world. We have even added a people's choice voting class for these little
wonders.

  * SUNDAY SHOW * August 29th *
Join your British car friends for a smashing day at the park. Don't have a
show car? Don't worry! Daily drivers, vintage racers, street rods and
works-in-progress are as welcome as Concours quality show cars. People's
Choice Awards in six classes. All entrants will receive a commemorative
gift. Cars will be placed on the field starting at 9:00 AM, and the fun
goes on all day. The registration fee is $25 per car at the gate. There is
no preregistration.

THIS EVENT HAS COME BACK WITH A NUMBER OF CHANGES THAT WERE REQUIRED BY THE
DEPARTMENT OF RECREATION AND PARKS.

(1) Plan to bring a picnic lunch or arrange a club pot luck. There will be
no food available at the park except the firm that is contracted to the
park and set up in the car park - they seem to only stock candy, ice cream
and soft drinks.
(2) There will be no commercial vendors - Only PR booths like Moss and
Barlow Insurance.

  * SATURDAY TOUR * August 28th *
The British Car Meet tour will start at Woodley Park in Van Nuys - the same
place as the Sunday Car Show. This is a no-cost option for people who like
to drive their cars as well as show them. We will be sending cars off
between 8:30 AM and 9:30 AM. Map will be provided. Don't be late! Details
and route will be available as entrants arrive in the morning.
------------------------------------
DIRECTIONS: Woodley Park is located on Woodley Ave, between Burbank and
Victory Blvds, one block west of the 405. From the 405, take the Burbank
Blvd (one exit north of the 101/405 junction) exit, turn west on Burbank,
drive one long block to Woodley, turn right, drive about a quarter mile and
start looking for the parking lot entrance to the right. PLEASE, DO NOT
PARK TRAILERS IN THE PARKING LOT! Trailer parking will be available
on-site.
