Front fenders

I have a friend who is a brit car restorer (doing a 61 Morgan now). He
has had in storage since the 70's a pair of front fenders in fiberglass.
He does not remember much of the history behind them but had heard they
were from a limited run the factory had done as an experiment. Does
anyone know what the history behind these might be? Sorry to intrude on
the list like this, I am very active on the MG list in the middle of my
first DIY engine rebuild.
