More Morgan Serial Numbers

In an effort to get my '70 Plus 8 recorded in Tony McLaughlin's registry, I
looked for the 7000+ sequence number that I had seen posted for other cars
of this vintage. (First, I had to ask Tony where to look!)
The number (chassis?) I found stamped into the wood beam directly behind the
left-hand driver's seat is, clearly, 0126. Why isn't this in the expected
sequence?
