Stuart,

You probably saw a certificate from the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust 
(BMIHT).  They have a web site.  For a modest fee they will provide the 
certificate for most vehicles built by companies that were part of 
BMC/B-L/Rover.  I have one for my wife's 61 Mini.
