At those speeds the fix is to run with the roof off.  The rain then blows 
clean over the top and you stay dry.  Just carry an umbrella for speeds 
below 40mph.

For the record the weather has been a bit rough in the UK the last few days 
so, since local lanes limit speed to 30-40mph I have had the top up.  My 
experience with a previous hood (which fell apart last year owing to over 
use) was that the hood is good up to 50-55mph at which point exerience is as 
Arlo quoted and without the hood is best from 45mph up.  Only trouble is 
it's tough on those in the back seat who get it full in the face!!   This 
new hood (supplied by the factory last May) seems to be good up to 80mph (on 
the main road to Winchester) but it is real tight to get on.
