Rick, I had a similar problem on my 77MGB. I cleaned the area with a wire brush
and dried it with air compressor and applied JB Weld. It has held nicely for 15
years. Mine is under the car and doesn't show but on the TD it might. I know
the purest out there won't like this solution, but it worked fine for me. Keep
up the good work on your progress. I always enjoy your posts.
