This is a fallacy.  Factory V8s have 90 gear oil as standard, mine was a daily
driver parked outside for many years including periods of below freezing and I
never had a problem, but I can't speak for the condition of anyone else's
gearbox.  As long as it *is* gear oil, and not *differential* oil it should be
OK, don't junk it now just wait and see how you get on.
