Radio Shack used to sell a female lighter socket on a length of
wire that you could hook up yourself to the wiring.  The outside
of the socket is insulated so there's no problem if it touches
anything.  I used one of these to hook up a cell phone charger
in a Ryder rental truck several years ago (no lighters, presumably,
so you won't smoke in the truck).  Just sttached it to the
fuse box.
