hood maintence

welcome to spring almost.....I'm replacing the insulation on the underside of
the hood in my 72 B.  The question I have is, has anyone any experience
removing the dried, glued on original installation pad?  I don't know if I'm
better off removing the hood and grinding it off with a wire brush  or is
there some solvent available that would dissolve the glue.  any help is
appreciated.
