I don't know if they changed anything by 1972, but in my opinion the sound
of the pre-smog B exhaust note is just about as good as it gets (for
four-bangers, at least), with a fabulous ripping sound at the top end, and
classic burble on lift-off (along with the occasional backfire). Perhaps the
lower compression versions are not as appealing...
