Randy,
   Infinite patience and a bit of luck are called for to get that circlip
into place.  The only tip I can offer is to wirebrush the groove
spotlessly clean before trying to fit the clip.  There is a tool for the
job that makes the job much easier. Moss carried it at one time, though I
can't find it in catalogue as I search for it right now.
