Thank you for all the responses regarding a replacement heater valve. I have found one at a local plumbing supply shop that allows direct coupling up of the 1/2 hose - no adaptors. It is small, all brass and a very easy working valve - others were tight. It's flow bore hole is 9/32 which is ample to supply the heater core matrix. It cost a massive Cdn$6.87 !!!
