Battery good or not?

The battery in my '78 is a few years old - a Sears Diehard.  I have power 
coming from it, but no easy way to tell if it's "enough" (I've been having 
starting problems).

It has a hydrometer (? hygrometer?), which has a "green eye".  Should I 
presume the battery is okay, but I have a problem elsewhere?  I'm not that 
familiar with how reliable the green eye/clear eye system is...
