Accelerator cable MGB

Experts,

I've tried to mount a new accelerator cable yesterday. Unfortunately
it looks as if one side of the outer-cable won't fit in on of the
guides (next to the pedalbox) or the guide on the heatshield. Does
this sound familiar?
